General Practitioners - Elmhurst, NY

"The good: Dr. Donn is straight to the point, my initial visit with her was honestly just a trial. She was the first OBGYN that I looked at specific for my pregnancy and she immediately ordered blood work and scheduled me for a sonogram and at the end of our second meeting she gave me lots of information about the hospital where she delivers, Long Island Jewish Katz Womens Hospital. The hospital is 5 stars, and nothing less then amazing. I was smitten with the hospital and honestly never took that factor under consideration before thinking about selecting a doctor but I'm really glad that Dr. Donn pointed that point out. She wastes no time with information and is able to pick up on your style as a patient (after a few sessions of course) she always asked me if I had any questions about what our appointment entailed. She was very adamant about charting my weight, at first I was so annoyed but I had my husband with me at every appointment and he was able to smooth over how I felt about it- in the long run I actually do appreciate her being so conscious about my health during pregnancy and always reminding me about it for after the baby. Her biggest asset is that she is not pushy about c-sections which was something I greatly feared. She always kept it real with me that birth plans were a joke and the baby gets here when they want and not when we plan them, so it made me feel safe that she would not just push to induce me just to get it out of the way (so to speak). The bad: Both office locations she worked from were PACKED ALL THE TIME, and Dr.Donn makes you commit to one office 'til death do you part. I personally chose the Queens Blvd location and really hated it. The actual office is so out of date that it made me feel like I was walking into a basement (it's actually on the 1st floor) The staff had a high turnover rate. The wait to be seen is RIDICULOUS, I'm talking I never saw Dr. Donn at the arranged appointment time- it was always a minimum of 1 HOUR late, ALWAYS! I was pregnant through most of summer so that office was awful! They had a fan and an A/C that would barely blow anything out. I think the worst of it is the office itself, I don't think Dr. Donn is the problem it's mostly the outdated office and non efficient (not very friendly) staff. "

"Great Doctor, with staff, very compassionate, i didnt have insurance and he saw me for 1/3 price of my own psychiatrist, which i know for 3 years.. he is amazing, and he really cares. he was the only one able to diagnose me with lyme disease, i went to 4 other doctors, as well. highly recommend. best PCP in NYC. he also gave me 70% discount on blood work, since i dont have insurance. "
