Tammy canceled our first appointment which I thought no big deal, I'll schedule another appointment. Met with Tammy today. She cut me off every time I spoke. Not even 5 minutes into the appointment she proclaims she believes in truth and thinks that approach won't work for me. I ask her why does she think that. That must have triggered her for some other reason because her response seemed over reactive. In response she said "you are trying to pick me apart." If someone believes in truth, why can't we speak honestly to one another? If you make an assessment about me, why can't I ask you to elaborate? I'd like to know who I'm speaking to before sharing personal things...especially in the first five minutes of an appointment. I feel badly for others who will engage with her.

I met with Tammy as my first therapist after my mental health has been neglected my entire life in hopes of being able to confide in someone to process past events and cope with mental/chronic illness. having someone to confide in about things i am still processing and things i am still dealing with was something i had to gain a lot of courage to do and i felt it was important for my quality of life to finally address my mental health issues, process past events with a professional in a healthy manner and help me navigate a normal adult life while dealing with mental/chronic illness. Tammy, despite her descriptions, is not empathetic or treats clients with dignity. My last session with her only lasted 15 minutes and I have never felt so belittled, like my problems weren't valid enough to be listened to. I came in wanting to speak about my chronic migraines and how they were affecting my mental health. i dated back to my severe concussion, how i have been to the emergency room multiple times, the violent vomiting and being practically immobilized for days at least once a month has made it hard to have a good quality of life and whether TAMMY believes it or not people have offed themselves over chronic migraines. when i started to say "it has been hard for my mental health dealing with this" she cut me off at "it has been hard" by saying "everybody has it hard, i have illnesses, i deal with people that have ...(names gigantic list of other chronic illnesses)" and when i went to actually finish my sentence, with tears in my eyes because i was trying to CONFIDE IN HER about something, she cut me off again saying i was being too heavy, too dark for her and she didn't need this and was going to go ahead and cancel my appt... i was so caught off guard and so confused and started apologizing i didn't know how i set off some switch in her within 15 minutes when i didn't even say anything because she wouldn't even allow me to. after this i was still apologetic but i still had tears in my eyes because i came to be vulnerable in a safe space and was met with a very one sided emotionally charged situation. in response to me tearing up, she said i wasn't ready for therapy and "NOW YOU'RE SAYING i'm the bad guy!" over and over when i hadn't even been able to say anything! at this point i am just pleading for her guidance on how to cope and she yelled like it was obvious, "be positive! affirmations!" wow! very informative when said in a condescending tone. not to mention vague and unhelpful. she also said something about me "blaming her" i have NO idea where that came from. I never would have expected a therapist or anyone to say the things this woman has said to me let alone someone who is actually s**cidal and trying to SEEK HELP. shame on you Tammy.
