Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove excess tissue around the eyelids. With aging, skin loses elasticity. In some people, skin can pool around the eyes causing wrinkles, puffiness, under-eye bags, and drooping.

During a blepharoplasty, tiny incisions are made under local anesthesia, and any excess skin or underlying tissue is removed from the eyelids. The procedure takes between one and three hours, and patients may have bruising and swelling around their eyes for a few days afterwards. Icing the area may help.

The surgery is sometimes done along with other facial surgery as part of a facelift. Typically, a blepharoplasty is considered cosmetic. In severe cases, however, upper eyelids may droop so significantly that they make it hard to see. In these cases, blepharoplasty may be considered a necessary treatment.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is any surgery done to change the shape and structure of the nose. It is commonly done for cosmetic purposes, but it may also be done to reduce breathing difficulties. Surgery may include any part of bone or cartilage of the nose. In some cases, cartilage is transplanted from the ear or rib to augment the nose.

Rhinoplasty may be done for reasons that are primarily about appearance, such as:

Changing the shape or size of the nose to better fit the proportions of the face
Lifting a downward tilt at the tip of the nose
Adjusting an asymmetrical nose
Closing unusually large nostrils
Reconstructing a nose that has been damaged after trauma.

Rhinoplasty may also be done to correct a deviated septum or other breathing impairment. In that case, the nasal structure is adjusted so that airflow is increased to a comfortable level.

Typically, rhinoplasty is only performed on adults because kids' and teens' faces are still growing and changing. After a rhinoplasty, healing will take 1-2 weeks, but subtle shifts in the face and occasional swelling can last up to a year.

Trigger Finger Surgery

"Trigger finger," or stenosing tenosynovitis, is a condition where the tendons at the base of a finger become irritated and swollen. They may develop small lumps similar to scar tissue. As the swollen, bumpy tendons pass through their sheath, a tunnel of connective tissue that holds them in place, they become stuck. The finger gets frozen in a bent, curled position. If forced, the finger can be straightened. When this happens, the stuck tendons slip through all at once, often causing a popping or clicking noise. Many cases of trigger finger respond well to non-surgical treatments such as NSAIDs, splints, or injected steroids. However, in severe cases, surgery may be necessary.

During trigger finger surgery, the tendons at the base of the affected finger are identified and the sheath is opened up, allowing the tendons to move freely without getting stuck. This can be done through a tiny incision in the palm, or even without an incision at all, using the tip of a needle. Most people are able to move their fingers normally, bending and straightening their finger without catching or popping, right away after surgery. Although patients may have some pain and stiffness as they heal, recovery is quick.

It has been one excuse after another. I injured my hand over the weekend and it took days to get an appointment. Then they called 2 hours before my appointment to try to get me to not come because the doctor was "transitioning" and would maybe not be able to treat me. He is not transitioning until 2017 so I told them I would keep my appointment. I did not want to push back treatment on my hand while I found another doctor and I had already taken off of work so I could go to the appointment. I went to the appointment and the doctor was extremely nice and helpful but said that I would need surgery and the sooner the better. They could not schedule my until the following week. Fine. Less than 24 hours before my surgery they called and said that the doctor is in network with my plan but the hospital he operates out of is not so I cannot have the surgery there. Fine. They apologized but said if I signed the paperwork they can quickly send my records to a different doctor that can treat me. I found a doctor and signed the paper work and sent it over and they still have not sent my records after 3 days! I do not need their apologies, I need them to do their job. The doctor is great, office staff not so much.
