Mr. Michael William Altig, LMHC

I am not one to leave negative reviews but I am writing this review in hopes of protecting other women coming out of domestic violence with children from going through what I just went through for the last year with Michael Altig.  

If you are coming out of domestic violence and need a reunification counselor DO NOT use Michael Altig. He has no concept of domestic violence or abuse and he was biased against me from day one and had already sided with my abuser. 

From the beginning he asked that I explain why I was in reunification counseling and I told him it was court ordered. Then he asked me to explain what went on in the marriage so I, in detail, explained the extent of violence my children and I experienced; from the continual outbursts of anger leading to violence against me on a regular basis, having weapons used to threaten me, a miscarriage caused by the violence, to my children and I being hospitalized due to abuse and neglect on multiple occasions and more.

He would play both sides pretending to hear me and my children then would work against me with the ex husband and ex husbands attorney dragging me in and out of court on "contempt" charges. 

My children and I were often separated during appointments and they would come out of his office distressed and confused. My oldest said that Michael was attempting to manipulate them. 

When that didn't work he attempted to reunify the ex and I saying we needed to have a "new experience together" then proceeded to give the ex husband my information and permission to contact me. He blamed me saying that I was the reason my children were still afraid of their bio father. 

Thankfully the judge that handled our case saw what was going on and ordered that I find a new reunification counselor and I now have an order of protection with both myself and my children on it. 

I believe Michael Altig's practice should be shut down as he is literally endangering the lives of victims of domestic violence. Please read the other reviews on here and other sites as well concerning Michael Altig there are similar stories!
