To start with the positives, the office staff was awesome - very efficient, friendly and punctual and the facilities were clean.

Regarding the doctor, I absolutely do not recommend Dr. Komperda for anyone that is looking for a doctor that listens to your concerns and gives a thorough examination before jumping to prescribing physical therapy. He heard one thing I said about my history (dislocated knee) while looking at my x-ray, examined me for ~30 seconds while talking over my full medical history with my knee (complete reconstruction, torn ligaments, chipped knee cap, torn tendons, etc.) and handed me a physical therapy script. I was honestly stunned by his behavior and how quickly he ushered me out of the room. In retrospect, I should have been more forceful in the moment to have him stop and give a more thorough examination. When I read his notes after the exam, I noticed discrepancies in my condition and his statements (e.g. Patella grind - any person can put their hand over my knee cap and be grossed out at all the grinding when I move my knee) and my frustration with the lack of care really grew.

When they sent me a survey for feedback, I was honest in my assessment (both pros and cons), and the office staff gave me a follow-up call. I re-iterated my concerns, and said, "I can't be the only one to have given this feedback" which they unsurprisingly agreed with. I then got the bill in the mail for $475 (after insurance, not including x-rays) and couldn't wrap my head around paying him that much for how little time he spent with me when I know I need to be re-seen by another doctor. I called the office to see if I could see another doctor instead and they raised my concerns to the doctor. After weeks of waiting for a decision, the doctor insisted I pay for his services. I get it - med school is expensive, but $475 for maybe a 3 minute visit where I needed another visit with a doctor for a real evaluation just seems absurd. I am sure if he recommended surgery he would be a great surgeon, but in my experience he is a terrible diagnostician and has a terrible bedside manner. Too many great doctors in NYC to settle for this type of behavior.
