General Dentists - Richmond, VA

"I called to schedule an appointment as a new patient, but the front desk lady who answered was rude and unhelpful. I decided not to become a customer because of this interaction, despite the possibility that the dental care may be good."

"I felt very uncomfortable with the whole experience. They essentially had no appointments - first red flag. I knew this since I was able to get an appointment 1 week in advance with many open options. Then on the day of the appointment when I said I was going to be late, no issue at all. At the appointment, the technician only polishes your teeth because the dentist is going to "clean" them. However, the dentist just took only 1 tool, went around each my teeth and said "all good!". Her hand was shaking slightly the whole time so I was worried she was going to hurt me or damage something. I said wait a minute I can still feel plaque, but as she started cleaning again, I was so nervous with her hand shaking that she was going to damage my gum line, since I could tell she didnt realize what she was looking at. I got out of that chair and office as fast as possible. I also asked her and the technician to clean my retainers, which I always bring in to get cleaned, and they had no idea what to do. No equipment or experience. "

"I was seen at Bristow Fountain Dentistry on 4/18/24 which I scheduled for a cleaning. Dr.Wisam advised that I needed a Deep Cleaning and would not perform a regular cleaning on this day. He advised me to return for the Deep Cleaning, then after the Deep Cleaning, another procedure. Upon leaving I was advised that the charge for these services would be $730.40 after my insurance paid their portion. The receptionist asked if I wanted to open a line of credit for the amount. I told her that I might, but not at this time because I would prefer not to open a line of credit. She insisted she would take the information, just in case, but not do anything with it until I returned for the follow-up appointments. To this day I have not been back for any additional appointments (and I won't be). However, in May I received a bill from Comenity Capital Bank for $730.40, for charges from Bristow Fountain Dentistry, (a Smile Generation entity). I have since communicated multiple times with both, Smile Generation and Bristow Fountain Dentistry to no avail. I also opened a dispute claim with Comenity Capital Bank and they somehow determined that I am responsible for the disputed charges. When I requested the documentation they received, as proof that I had received the services for which I was being billed, they apparently had none, and suggested I contact Smile Generation again. From my personal experience, these are not trustworthy businesses and I will be contacting my insurance company, the Better Business Bureau, and the Credit Bureau."
