"I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition over a year ago, yet I continue to be turned away by endocrinologists within the Methodist system. This is now the second time, most recently with Dr. Toma. (Third negative interaction at Methodist) Despite documented thyroid nodules confirmed by ultrasound and CT scan, I was told my “bloodwork wasn’t bad enough” to warrant specialty care. My primary care physician even stated this was inappropriate and referred me to Dr. Toma for further evaluation. I scheduled the appointment a month in advance, and to be prepared I had already arranged updated ultrasounds and blood work, knowing how long it takes to see a specialist. Yet, just two days before the visit, I was told Dr. Toma would not see me — again based solely on outdated labs from last year. What’s most concerning is that I wasn’t even given the opportunity to be evaluated in person. Endocrinology is supposed to manage thyroid disorders, yet my care was dismissed entirely on numbers alone — ignoring my diagnosis, my symptoms, and the updated testing I had already scheduled. It sends the message that unless a doctor can prescribe medication immediately, patients are not worth their time. As a patient, I have been proactive with my health, but it is unacceptable to be denied care in this way. This approach feels profit-driven rather than patient-centered. Patients deserve better."

"I have been seeing Dr Thomas for nearly a decade. She is amazing. I will not switch providers as long as she is practicing within 100 miles of where I live. Her team is amazing and she is a great leader for them. Dr. Thomas has helped me gain control over my health and maintain control. I always feel encouraged that I am doing the right thing when I leave her office. And even when I am down on myself for having a bad test result, we talk it through and I still feel better than I would if I did not have her to explain it. I always recommend seeking out help when you need it and she will be the best option in the area."

"The Dr doesn’t do evaluations that what I’ve been told. So you have to go to her with a diagnosis in order to get an appointment. I had to go over my medical records with the assistant over the phone so she could determine I wasn’t elegible for an appointment. I have the type of insurance where you do not need an appointment but it looks that’s the only way you can go to see this doctor. "
