Geriatricians - Reno, NV

"Scheduled an appt w/front desk over telephone 2 weeks b4 appt. as they were listed on my insurance companies website as accepting new patients. I verified over phone w/MDs office if they do accept my insurance and was told 'yes'. Arrived on time for appt and after spending 15 min filling out new paperwork, front desk he/she tells me his 'billing rep' (in another location) tells him/her my insurance card is no good. They could not explain why 'was no good'. I called my insurance company and they verified my id# and this MD accepts Aetna (my insurance). I proceed to tell he/she and 3 other people came over and said 'no, it's no good, out billing rep says so'. I ask them to please call my insurance co as a providers # is listed on back of card and they refuse. I again spend 15 minutes calling my insurance company and they proceed to talk w/he/she and verify my ID# is good and yes Dr. Van Reken is an in network provider. Front desk still refuses and states I can be seen IF I wish topay out of pocket! Meanwhile during this 60 minute ordeal, the Doctor is popping in and out listening but never says a word. I decided to leave and asked if I do will I be billed as a no show or ? and I am told 'it's strictly up to the doctor, but yes, you will'. At this point in in a quandry, then the front desk he/she says, " the doctor will allow you to leave w/o being billed'. Hallelejuah! I would NEVER recommend this fly by night 'doctor' as my first impression upon entering the office was he is a jack of all trades guy, one who takes continuing education classes so he can perform erectile dysfunction surgeries to facelifts, to botox to ice sculpting. Stay AWAY! "
