Pediatric Optometrists - Richfield, MN

"Stopped by Target Optical on 3/7/22 for glasses. The tech could not figure out how to bill my ins and asked me to call the ins co. so she could speak with them. Left me on hold with the ins co for over 30 mins while she waited on several pts who just walked in the door one after the other. When I told her I had been waiting before they walked in, the tech said she had to wait on the other pts before me. I decided to speak with the optometrist, Dr. Michael Wallerich, about the situation. Now, all of a sudden the tech leaves her pt to join our convo. When I told her I didn't want to talk to her since she refused to help me before, Dr. Wallerich yelled at me about being rude to her. He also told me they didn't take my insurance anyway and walked away. Ironically, during my 31 min call with the insurance co, they verified Target was a provider for my ins and the ins rep was holding on the line to walk the tech thru how to properly submit the claim, but the tech never came to the phone. Luckily, the mall had several optical stores so I found another one right away and their competent tech was able to bill my insurance with no problems (no phone calls to ins necessary). I complained that day to Target who said their optical dept was owned by a 3rd party, Luxottica. I filled out the online complaint form Luxottica requires. Well today (3/10/22), I received a call not from Luxottica, but from the same tech who was rude to me saying, "I wasn't able to help you the other day, but I was wondering if you wanted me to help you now?" You can guess what I said. Nevertheless, I certainly hope this isn't the extent Luxottica plans to deal with this situation. I am so disappointed. I have lived in this community for many years and my family has relied on this neighborhood business to provide glasses and contacts lenses for all of us. My husband plans to get his new glasses today, but he is not going back to Target, instead he will go the other business who rescued us after we had been neglected and abused by the employees at the Target Optical in Eden Prairie, MN."
