"My wife and I were scared when our baby was born with a congenital heart disease, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect some children are born with. Our pediatrician tells me there is another problem, the medication prostaglandin was not at the hospital. The condition is so rare, the hospital pharmacy allowed it to expire. Prostaglandin was needed to keep the patent ductus arteriosus open, according to our pediatrician. She told me it was enroute from another hospital. Time was of the essence.
