I chose this doctor because he is also into cycling and would be familiar with my knee condition.  As it turned out, he could of sent me for many expensive MRIs, X-rays etc but suggested a simple excersize that will help strengthen a muscle to alleviate or cure the problem.  It worked!  I ride about 200 miles per week on season and the problem has not returned.   He is an honest Dr who looks for cures.
