I broke a tooth which necessitated a root canal & crown. My insurance dictated I use Sage Dental in Cumming (876 Buford Highway) and Dr. Yusef was the endodontist in the building. 

Ahead of the procedure, I let the team know (including her) that I have extreme dental anxiety. Prior to that day, I’d only had 3 fillings - no braces, no major dental work. A root canal was a really big deal for me and I was scared. She dismissed my fear and said it would be fine. 

During the procedure, I felt pain and indicated it by banging my hands on the chair arms FIVE TIMES. Each time she used her arm to keep me from moving and said “just a second…it’s almost…” while continuing to drill…while I felt everything and was in extreme pain.
 F.I.V.E. times in one procedure I was essentially held still and disregarded while in pain. Each time, after she got to what I suppose she felt was a convenient (for her) stopping point, she’d give me another shot…& then IMMEDIATELY started drilling again. The shots take several minutes to kick in but she didn’t wait.

By the time she was done, I was shaking as I walked to the next room for my crown fitting. I could barely catch my breath and started crying as the regular dentist (Dr. Shapatel) worked. She stopped her work twice to give me more numbing, waiting 10min between each shot to make certain it was working before continuing. I told her what Dr. Yusef did and she just said she’d talk with her.

I’ve never felt anything like what I experienced that day. I was obligated to complete my crown process with that practice but transferred out as soon as it was done.

Dr. Yusef did not care about my pain and went so far as to hold me down. I quite literally felt assaulted by the experience.

My face was bruised for 2.5 weeks and it took a month for my jaw to open wide enough to take a normal bite.

I visited this dentist in 2017 for a root canal. My face at first looked like I had a deep dimple afterward. Now it just looks distorted one side of my face is flatter than the other in the sinus area. The dental x-ray looks like the root canal went through my sinus but no dentist in Georiga will diagnose that as the issue. I was told I would have to leave Georgia to be diagnosed.
