Sean Vikram "Vik" Bhagat, MD, has been practicing at PeaceHealth since 2019. He grew up in Ohio and has spent much of his adult life working with and advocating for children. After graduating from The Ohio State University with degrees in both molecular genetics and philosophy, Dr. Bhagat taught chemistry at Collins Academy High school on the west side of Chicago for three years. There he stepped out of his chemistry teacher role to be the debate coach before attending medical school. As a student at Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Bhagat helped implement and track the Louisiana Lead Poisoning Prevention Program partnering with Women, Infants and Children (WIC, a federal nutrition program) to train its employees on best practices in lead screening. During residency at the University of Colorado, Dr. Bhagat helped coordinate a program to teach other residents the nuances of school-based health, including collaborating with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for children in special education and identifying the unique barriers nurses face in a school setting. Dr. Bhagat’s philosophy as a pediatrician is simple: be the best advocate for your child and treat all children and families with dignity, kindness and respect. Dr. Bhagat has a special interest in caring for medically complex children, newborn care and continued medical education. He is passionate about getting kids outside to explore the beauty of Southeast Alaska. Dr. Bhagat fully supports the vaccination schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He does not support delaying vaccines or alternative vaccine schedules. He will not write vaccine exceptions unless clearly medically indicated. Outside of work Dr. Bhagat enjoys spending time with his wife and son, hiking and exploring the trail systems throughout Revillagigedo Island, learning to sea kayak and drinking beer. He is board certified in pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
