I was recently referred to Dr. Saqqa to treat a ruptured L4-L5 disc causing a pinched nerve, which resulted in multiple emergency room trips. After waiting nearly 10 days to get into see the Dr., they refused to see me at the appointment because my global insurance authorization had not been issued by the insurance company and PCP yet and was in process. I asked them for 30 minutes to straighten it out and offered to private pay for the consult. They refused to see me, stating their policy is not to treat any patient who is self paying and refused to wait even 15 minutes to allow me work things out with insurance.

My PCP says they back date these authorizations all the time and it should not have precluded them from seeing me, especially given my acute level of pain. I had to be wheeled into their office because I couldn't walk. They seemed much more focused on getting out for the holiday.

This place is clearly all about the money and not the patients. I fully expect to end up in the ER this holiday weekend, so thank you for that, St. Clair Orthopedics!
