Dr Filuk grew up in British Columbia, Canada where he received his college degree at the University of British Columbia. He then moved to Northwest Washington to work in a neuroscience laboratory in Seattle. This work eventually led him to attend the University of Washington Medical School where he received his MD degree. Dr Filuk then obtained his pediatric residency training in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah in 1994. Dr Filuk began practicing pediatrics after returning to Northwest Washington in 1997. His 30 years of working in pediatrics has given him insight and a passion for working with families to care for their children’s medical and social-emotional needs. He has worked in child advocacy as a board member for the Washington State Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. As the healthcare needs of Whatcom County have grown , Dr Filuk expanded his practice to work not only in Bellingham, but also at the new PeaceHealth Lynden Clinic. His focus of practice is general pediatrics where he supports the healthcare needs of newborns through teenagers. Dr Filuk has three married children and he and his wife are enjoying being “empty nesters.” His oldest has just entered the medical field as a physician’s assistant.
