In 2019, I started seeing Patrick Frame at Insightful Minds in Glen Carbon, IL to treat my PTSD. Prior to that I saw an art therapist, and we thought EMDR would help with residual symptoms. The first two years seemed to go ok. Then the loneliness and issues of the pandemic caught up to me, and I started to struggle. I missed my friends, going into the office, and my old way of life. I also struggle because I am from another culture and have difficulties in the one I am in. This became more apparent after the pandemic. I asked him for resources in the community so I could have support and make connections. He seemed to know so little about the community and the resources within it which I found odd, but I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt as not everyone is extroverted. Social workers are supposed to know their community and the resources within it. They should have a solid professional network, so they can connect clients to resources within the community. It is written in the standards for social workers (Standard Number 3). I asked for months for community resources and was ignored. He told me there was nothing here, and if I did not like it, then move. After about nine months of asking, he finally sent me some lists. Two days later, I received an email while I was at work stating he was terminating services because my behavior was inappropriate, and that I crossed his boundaries during the last session. Not once during the session did he ever mention to me that I was acting inappropriate or crossing his boundaries. I asked to speak to him as I would like to know what I did and straighten the issue out. He refuses to inform me as to what inappropriate behavior I engaged or what boundaries I crossed. I even offered to speak via phone. He declined. A solid professional would meet a client in person to terminate them and state the specific reason, not send a vague email while they are at work. I question whether he is mentally fit to even practice as a therapist as he does not even have the basic skills to confront a well-known non-violent client to her face about her behavior. It is maladaptive and inappropriate for a therapist to use passive aggressive behavior with clients. I would not recommend Patrick for therapy. He knows nothing about the community. If it is not a service offered in his office, you are on you own. He knows nothing about PTSD, sexual assault, trauma, domestic violence, or the LGBT community. He just recites stuff from a textbook. He has no real-world experience. He lacks authenticity and just recites stuff he memorized. If you want real help, go somewhere else. Otherwise, you will just get hurt and abandoned when you don’t measure up to his ambiguous standards. It sounds like he needs therapy himself as he won’t be able to confront you to your face if he has an issue with you. You will just get a nasty email. What he did to me was cruel to say the least. Therapists can terminate a client at anytime, but I do not see how it is acceptable to terminate a client via email while she is at work. I also telework and was all alone. I should have had a final session.
