I went for a routine eye exam. My whole life I have been complimented by doctors for having a very good vision. I have never in my life had trouble with my vision.
Well, until I went to this optometrist.
The lady is very nice, she will explain the medical issue to you. However, she seems to be not very good at determining if you need glasses or not. She prescribed me "computer glasses" that are +1.75. That's a high diopter for someone who has never worn glasses before (I was told by another optometrist). I paid for the glasses, they gave them to me, but silly me didn't try them at the doctor's facility, neither did the doctor say I should.
I went home, sat in front of my laptop, and put them on. My eyes immediately started hurting. That was followed by a headache. I tried them over and over again because I thought I needed to adjust to them. My attempts were followed by a headache and involuntary tears in my eyes. When I called the doctor to consult her about the issue, I was rudely told to go for a "follow up" on Monday. Guess what, my insurance does not cover a vision follow up, I don't have a vision health plan since I have never had a problem with my eyes. However, I consulted with another optometrist. He was appalled. My vision is normal, I do not need any sort of glasses.
I cannot think of a moral reason why this optometrist would prescribe me glasses if my vision is normal. Was it for profit or was it because she made a mistake? Or was it because she's not very good at her job? I can only guess.
But please, save your money and find a better optometrist. Health is very important to all of us and we should be able to trust the professionals whose job it is to help us have good health.
