Heart Problems

The heart is one of the most important organs in the body. This smooth muscle expands and contracts rhythmically an entire lifetime, pumping blood to the lungs and then to every other cell in the body. When heart problems occur, it becomes difficult for the body to get the nutrients and oxygen it needs via the blood. So while there are a variety of illnesses and disorders that affect the heart, most of them cause weakness, exhaustion and shortness of breath. The most common heart conditions include heart disease, angina, arrhythmia, and valve disorders.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. This includes coronary artery disease, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, and congenital heart disease. Some conditions, such as genetics, cannot be controlled. But there are many other things one can do to lower their risk for heart disease. Controlling high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, reducing or stopping smoking, exercising more and losing weight if needed, and eating a diet low in sodium can all protect the heart.

Angina is a squeezing type of chest pain that happens when the muscles around the heart don't get enough oxygen. It can be regular or infrequent. Usually, angina is caused by coronary heart disease. However, not all chest pain is angina. Chest pain can also be caused by a lung infection or panic attack, for example, so it is important to have any sudden pain checked.

Arrhythmia is the word for when the heart beats too fast, too slow, or irregularly with skipped beats. It can feel frightening, and depending on the type it can be dangerous, but in most cases arrhythmia is not serious and can be treated. It is very common, especially in older adults.

Heart valve problems can happen in any one of the the heart's four valves that keep blood flowing where it needs to go. Babies can be born with problems in their heart valves, or valves can be damaged by infections. The valves can stiffen and become less mobile, or they can stop closing properly and 'leak' when the heart beats. Valve problems can usually be repaired surgically.

Dr Rosen has been my provider for many years, but this time I feel like he dropped the ball. My appointment was scheduled months in advance, or I would never have gotten in to even see him. His availability for appointments is very limited. This was a diabetic follow up and he went over my test results. But ONLY my test results. He seemed a little distracted. I am experiencing neck shoulder and arm pain. I was in obvious pain during this session. I tried to engage in conversation about my pain but he showed zero interest. Yes I am seeing another Providence provider about it. But as my Primary Care I felt he should have at least paid some attention to it. And I'm only seeing the other doctor because mine impossible to see on short notice. I left that day feeling angry and very unsatisfied. And still in pain.

The office is turning into an assembly line rather than a Doctor office.I came in for yearly check up with two questions...neather were addressed1. Watering in left eye and nose......might be sines problem...what to take or who to see???2. Hearing In left ear needs to be checked..not as good as right earLeft office with no answers on what to do or who to see...plus no appointment written recap...had to call and go back to pick it up.All and all I was given meds. Doctor thought I needed but no answers to what I thought I neededWhile your system looks good I think you forgot the person.

As far back as I can remember, Dr. Rosen has seen to my health and wellbeing without hesitation or compromise. Following the statutory checking of all the boxes and review of the ongoing efficacy of my meds, etc, he pushes away from the keyboard, turns to face me and asks how I am doing. He inquires as to my work related stress and intermittent anxiety. There will never be another quite like him. His staff is both well trained, thorough and courteous. I am forever grateful for Dr. Rosen, his team Providence's acceptance and approval of his requests and referrals. Thank you all.

The medical assistant was very kind and thorough in documenting my symptoms and test findings in the chart, which I appreciated. However, during the visit with the covering physician, I felt that my concerns were not fully addressed. My wife was present and also noticed the lack of empathy and clear guidance. The interaction was limited, with most of the time spent charting and repeated questions despite the information already in the chart notes. The visit provided little guidance beyond "continue medications and return if symptoms worsen.

Scheduling the appointment was unnecessarily hard. It was impossible to schedule an appointment within two weeks online. When I called the earliest appointment was 6 weeks later. However when I explained that I had been asked to see one of the practice staff today I was given a range of appointments for that same morning. With all due respect to the doctors and medical practitioners I have seen over the years, Dr Rosen is the best. He takes his time, listened to me and was very thorough

Some days I may have to wait for my appointment but I always come prepared for that because I know he takes the time needed with all his patients and he never makes me feel I'm being rushed thru my appointment. I came in for a follow up on my hip, but also thought I might have a UTI. He was supportive of what my hip surgeon suggested and asked good questions about my physical therapy. He then order a renal ultrasound, because he was concerned about my reoccurring UTI's and wanted to rule out any other issues. Dr Rosen is conscientious and caring. I hope he never retires!

Dr. Rosen is a knowledgeable and professional physician whom I can always rely on. Excellent physician! He motivated me to move forward with a reasonable treatment plan for my bone density which I had been trying to decide on doing. That is not the reason I came in to see this provider today though as I was here for a pre-surgical clearance. I also needed basic blood test and an ekg.....all were handled efficiently!
