During my initial evaluation for PTSD, Dr. Werb told me I would need to stop taking my ADHD medication until I was retested by him, which could involve being on a waitlist for up to a year. He did not read my previous ADHD diagnosis nor did he discuss my career with me. He still told me he didn’t believe I had ADHD because ‘what happens is intelligent women with successful careers will make it so far and be unable to handle it so they claim ADHD.’ I filed a complaint stating I wasn’t comfortable with a psychiatrist who made diagnosis decisions based off my sex and nothing else. Despite offering to be retested and stop taking my medication, I was then refused service at the practice and told it was because I had a previous ADHD diagnosis. Very upsetting after waiting over 6 months to get into to this practice, really needing help, and now having to wait to get in elsewhere because I disagreed with being Dr. Werb making my diagnosis based on misogynistic perceptions.
