Mr. Michael Sands, LCSW

Michael Sands is very direct and that's what makes him such a great therapist. He is skilled at helping people balance life and work issues. He is able to get to the heart of the matter and iron out an overall holistic perspective that makes it feel like a lightbulb goes on -- in an otherwise unclear situation. If you are looking for someone who is very honest, effciient and helpful, he's may be right therapist for you.

I visited this therapist a couple years ago when I was experiencing high levels of anxiety. After ten minutes in the first session, he said I was not at the right place because I have a chronic anxiety disorder and would need to be treated by a psychiatrist. He said he only deals with "temporary" situations, such as stress following a big life event, or grieving. I told him I would still like to pursue therapy regardless of whether I end up deciding to explore medical treatment, but he responded by saying "okay, well what do you want to talk about then. Unless there is anything I can do for you,  I think you are not at the right place". It was my first time going to therapy and I still do not know to this day why he was so rude with me. No worries though-- found someone else and had a positive experience. Just wanted to let others know before they spend time seeing him.
