Rion Tapp, MD is a board-eligible plastic surgeon with clinical interests in general reconstruction, breast reconstruction, microsurgery, and cosmetic surgery. A native of South Carolina, Dr. Tapp earned his undergraduate degree in Genetics from Clemson University. He then completed medical school here at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), graduating in the top of his class and earning induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Tapp completed his plastic surgery residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina—one of the nation’s oldest integrated plastic surgery programs—renowned for its high surgical volume and strong tradition of international medical mission work. During his residency, he performed more than 4,000 procedures spanning the full spectrum of plastic surgery. He also contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and presented at both regional and national scientific meetings. His global health experience includes providing surgical care in Togo and Zambia. Currently serving as the first Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellow at MUSC, Dr. Tapp is training under the guidance of Dr. Gabriel Klein to manage the most complex cases in plastic surgery. This advanced fellowship will further enhance his ability to offer comprehensive reconstructive solutions that restore both form and function for patients facing trauma, cancer, or congenital challenges. Dr. Tapp is excited to return to his home state and is accepting new patients for both reconstructive and cosmetic consultations.
