After doing a lot of homework we learned of Dr. Fernandez' extraordinary reputation. When we learned that he would be the lead surgeon on a challenging dual liver/kidney transplant I was still quite scared about my own survival but somewhat comforted. Five days post surgery, with Dr. Fernandez' daily encouragement, I realized I was alive and thriving. Six months out, I realize what an extraordinary surgeon he is. His world class medical talents are matched only by his caring and uplifting interpersonal skills, or as they say, bedside manner. I thank Dr Luis Fernandez and the team at Loyola for a virtually perfect outcome. I feel better than I did even before I was sick.
