Visited Dr. O’Connor to receive a second opinion after a mass had been discovered in the renal pelvis of my left kidney and a different urologist had told me that the kidney would need to be removed. Dr. O’Connor reviewed the MRIs with me and told me that while the tumor was in a difficult location, he thought he could remove the tumor and save the kidney. He also said that for a “young” guy like me (mid 50s), it was important to try to save as much kidney meat as possible, since I still have a lot of life to live. ?

I greatly appreciated the candor and confidence with which Dr. O’Connor spoke and the time he took to explain the risks associated the procedure. He also returned my call late one evening after a long day at the office to answer several of my questions. I am now two weeks out post-op, the cancerous tumor has been removed, and both of my kidneys are still intact. Dr. O’Connor stopped by the hospital a couple different mornings after the surgery to check up on me. He indulged my joking around and gave me a great sense of appreciation for both his surgical skills and human compassion. Thank you, Dr. O’Connor!
