Dr. Dwarakanath is a neonatologist in the Maternal, Fetal & Neonatal Institute at Johns Hopkins All Children’s and serves as medical director of the neonatal intensive care unit at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital through a collaboration with Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. He was previously an attending neonatologist at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota.  He earned his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College at Bangalore University in India. He completed post-graduate training in pediatrics and neonatology in BYL Nair Hospital and Mumbai University in India, followed by post-residency training in nephrology at Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences and Mumbai University, and post-graduate training in pediatrics and child health at the Royal Society of Paediatrics and Child Health in London. He then completed a residency in pediatrics at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical center in Brooklyn, and a fellowship in neonatology at Regional Perinatal Center at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. Dr. Dwarakanath’s research interests include patent ductus arteriosus, necrotizing enterocolitis, optimal oxygen saturation limits in ELGAN, electrolyte homeostasis, maternal obesity and its effects on neonates, and postnatal steroids for BPD prevention.
