The physician gave a steroid rather than a painkiller based on a snap decision that because I had some specific allergies to one kind of painkiller, a steroid would be better rather than asking what painkillers might be used, and what medications had been used successfully in the past. With urging, some X-Rays were ordered. But the repeated insistence was that the physician couldn't really help, that I should make an appointment with my regular doctor (who was unavailable), that she is not a specialist, and so on framed a rather useless visit with an actual physician.
