I have been seeing Dr. Stracks for over a year now. He is very knowledgeable about thyroid hormone imbalances. When I first met with him, I had been battling post-thyroidectomy hypothyroidism for about 4 years.  I underwent a total thyroidectomy to treat my Graves' autoimmune thyroiditis which had also caused Graves' orbitopathy.  My antibody levels for thyroglobulin and thyroperoxidase were 100-1000 times higher than normal, and because my eye muscles were also affected it was not suggested that I undergo radioactive iodine ablation of my thyroid.  I have a doctorate in neuroscience with a focus in neuroimmunology, and I was having a very hard time finding an endocrinologist who truly understood the underlying mechanisms of thyroid hormone control.  Dr. Stracks has worked with me over the last year and helped me reach normalcy for the first time in over 8 years!  If you are struggling with a thyroid imbalance, Hashimoto's or Graves', please do see Dr. Stracks.
