I had previously seen another Urologist that had done a lithotripsy procedure to break up my kidney stones a month earlier. I started having increased pain but the other Urologist wanted to do another lithotripsy despite having issues after the first procedure. 

Dr. Brockman was able to work me in quickly because my kidney function was low and I was in stage 4 kidney failure. I had two large ¾” kidney stones as well as a lot of stone fragments in my right kidney. These stones had the urine flow blocked from the kidney to the bladder causing the low kidney function. Dr. Brockman recommended Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) surgery asap to breakup and remove the stones. This is surgery through the back directly into the kidney where the stones are broken up and removed. He did the procedure on April 3rd and I was released out of the hospital the next morning. I expected, based on what I had read about the procedure, a lot of pain and discomfort following the surgery. I was amazed that when I woke up following the procedure that I had practically now pain! He expected the procedure to take about an hour and a half but because of the location of the 2 large stones and the number of smaller stones it took him about 3 hours to complete the surgery.

Dr. Brockman has a great bedside manner and was extremely thorough and made sure I understood the issues and the procedure so I could make the proper decision. He is one of the best doctors I have ever dealt with.
