I’ve been a Columbia Doctors patient since 1999 and have always had great experiences — until my recent colonoscopy with Dr. Fay Kastrinos. I met her for the first time moments before the procedure (a quick 1–2 minute intro) and had an equally brief post-procedure comment while I was still groggy from anesthesia.
What I didn’t expect was a surprisingly high bill afterward ($17,895.08). When I called, I was told the charge came from the billing code she submitted — yet none of my follow-up calls or emails asking for clarification have been returned. The whole thing felt more like a billing opportunity than genuine patient care.
Really disappointing, especially after decades of positive experiences at Columbia. I would not recommend Dr. Kastrinos based on this encounter. Lesson learned: always confirm billing details in advance.
