Dr. Douaa M. Girgis, DMD

Avoid Dr. Girgis at all costs. She insisted that I get a sleep study to get a night guard, which is not required by other dentists. I do not snore, and I assured her that I do not have sleep apnea, so there is no need for me to submit to and pay for an unnecessary test. I just need a night guard to protect my teeth since I grind them. These can be ordered over the counter, but I thought it would be better to have it fitted by a dentist. I certainly shouldn't have to submit to an unnecessary test to get something I could get on my own without one. We had what I thought was a polite disagreement, and I thought she was respecting my wishes. I was shocked to get a letter the following week saying that she would no longer treat me, even though my family has gone there for years. I also have a limited window of time to get any dental work done due to an upcoming surgery, so it puts me in a difficult spot. It is incredibly unprofessional, and violates the code of ethics that dentists adhere to by not respecting patient autonomy and pressuring them into unnecessary tests. Not to mention that she is also extremely religious, and not shy about hiding it. You are free to believe whatever you want, but I don't need to hear about it while I am getting a filling.
