I had four sessions with him. He was the first person I ever disclosed my SA to. He seemed angry and aggressive about me even wanting to process or talk to someone about what I had been through. He made me want to give up on even trying to get help or healing. This was several years ago, and I'm fortunate to say I did find greener pastures and a safe counselor to work with.
I worked with him for almost 2 years! I always tried to see things through. He'd be late, be in his car, or cutting the session short. I felt pressured by him to make decisions I wasn't ready to make. Now I have to deal with them. Thanks Donnie!
There was no professionalism at all. Donald is very self-serving. He is very consumed with himself. He was not on time for a session, ended the session before the time was up. But I was still charged the full amount.
This “counselor” isn’t safe to open up with and doesn’t have the skills to provide true therapy. What I experienced was someone who was harsh, judgmental, argumentative, and quite defensive. He insists that people choose to have addictions. I explained that it is actually an illness not a choice, and that the choice is to seek help which is what I’m trying to do. He claims this means I am just resistant. Halfway through I had to end it to protect myself from his aggressiveness. That all took place during the first session. Professional and effective therapists spend some time to get to know you, your struggles, your strengths, and create a safe space. His license (if he has one) should be revoked as he is harmful rather than helpful, and absolutely not safe. Mr. Fenton if you ever read this, please consider some self discovery and exploration rather than egoistic disregard.
Donnie no showed for my first appointment. He said he mixed up the times so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued to work with him. He then No showed another two times with no warning or apology. Then messaged me to “get a new therapist” instead. This is not an individual they can be trusted or relied upon to seek any type of counseling. Stay away from him. I will also be filing a complaint with Better Help.
