Dr. Petros and his wonderful staff has been taking care of me since I was first diagnosed with RA in 1995. I was 25 years old, now 48. I refuse to see another Dr. He ALWAYS keeps an eye on my lab work, my aches & pains, all the way to me having a running nose. He tends to  get me back up and running if I am hurting. I am grateful for everything he has done and never gave up on me.  I had moved to Houston and I would still drive back to Corpus for my appointments. He has a BIG , CARING HEART for all of his patients as well as his staff.

The doctor insisted I had fibromyalgia, and would do nothing to find out what was actually causing my pain. He asked for a back X-Ray. His own associate and my primary doctor both said it showed that RA had settled into my lower spine where my scoliosis is. Dr. Petros said no, it was just normal wear and tear on my spine from my age (I am only 48!). I kept calling (he had wanted to see me in 3 weeks, but the office scheduled me for 9 weeks later), and asking if he might want an MRI, because the pain was excruciating. He called me a drug seeker and told me to find another doctor if that's all I wanted (I NEVER asked for drugs, and in fact, asked him if he could take me OFF of several of my meds!). I kept calling him, trying to explain, but he kept repeating that I was just seeking drugs. I gave up. My primary ordered an MRI, which showed EXTENSIVE damage caused by RA and degenerative disc disease, etc.! Petros refused to even admit I had such pain there!! Now, 7 months later, I have been diagnosed with Lupus. It states it VERY plainly on my blood test work up sheet, and my primary doctor, who ordered the test, confirmed it. I called to try and get an appointment with a different rheumatologist, but Petros won't release me!!! I explained to his nurse that I need to see someone, and she said that I DON'T have Lupus, and that Petros says I don't have Lupus either! She repeated this over and over! I asked if she had the latest blood test results, and she said yes! I asked if they were from last Friday (today is Wednesday), and she said no....she actually didn't have those. I told her AGAIN that it stated I specifically have SLE!! She said if that was the case, I should have had my doctor fax over the results. My doctor GAVE me the copies to take with me! I told her I could fax them right now, and she said no, that she'd just call my doctor's office. What in the world are they on in that office?! They are horribly rude! Petros (if you can ever get past his office staff) is nice enough, but he won't believe any blood tests, and won't order anymore tests. He just says fibro. Because he refused to do further testing, I now have serious heart tachycardia, high urine proteins, and serious pain, all which go along with Lupus! However, he can't get me in for over a month...and still doesn't believe I have Lupus, when I have the blood work that STATES that I have it! Don't waste your time!!
