“Many people reach out for therapy during one of the hardest seasons of their lives. Taking that first step can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable being yourself—without judgment—and where we can work together to help you move toward the life you want. As a Licensed Professional Counselor serving clients in Texas and New Mexico, I work with adolescents (ages 12+) and adults from all cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have experience helping individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, trauma, anger, behavioral concerns, men's issues, relationship challenges, life transitions, and substance use. Whether you're facing a recent crisis or have been carrying these struggles for years, I believe meaningful change is possible. I don't believe therapy is about telling you what to do or trying to "fix" you. Instead, I see therapy as a partnership. Together, we'll explore what's contributing to your struggles, identify your strengths, and develop practical tools that help you move forward with greater confidence and resilience. My approach is personalized because every person and every story is different. I draw from evidence-based therapies, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused approaches. I tailor treatment to fit your goals, helping you better understand yourself, build healthy coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals experiencing significant emotional distress, including suicidal crises, severe depression, anxiety disorders, behavioral challenges, and co-occurring substance use. Those experiences have strengthened my belief that healing is possible, even when life feels overwhelming or hope seems difficult to find. Whether you're looking for support through a specific challenge or you're ready to make lasting changes in your life, I'd be honored to walk alongside you. My hope is that you'll leave each session feeling heard, supported, and equipped with practical tools to help you move forward with confidence.”

Depression
Everyone knows what it feels like to get the blues once in a while. But depression is a serious illness that is more severe than a bad day and lasts much longer. Symptoms of depression stop a person from being able to function and enjoy daily activities for weeks or months at a time. It can happen to anyone, and it isn't something that people can control by force of will or "snap out of it."
Some common symptoms of depression include:
We don't yet know what causes depression, but it's thought that it is a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and social influences. Because of this, the most effective treatments for depression combine medication with psychotherapy. Therapy, especially cognitive-behavioral therapy, can be extremely helpful in resolving the negative thoughts and feelings that come with depression. It gives patients new tools that they can use themselves to cope when their depression is making them feel down.
Some of the common medications used to treat depression include antidepressants such as SSRI's (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft) or atypical antidepressants (Cymbalta, Wellbutrin). It's important to remember that these medications have different effects on everybody, and no one medication works right for everyone. Patients may have to try a couple before finding the one that works just right for them. If the first medication they try doesn't work, they should talk to their doctor about trying something else. In extreme cases where medication is not enough, electro-convulsive therapy and hospitalization may be the answer to keeping a severely depressed person safe.
Depression is a difficult illness to deal with, but it is more common than believed and there are many people who can help. With the right treatment, individuals with depression can get back to fully enjoying life again.
