Cosmo Fowler, M.D. received his medical degree at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, internal medicine training at Case Western Reserve University - MetroHealth, critical care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and sleep medicine at Emory. In the intensive care unit, he treats various forms of critical illness including respiratory failure and shock. In the sleep clinic, he treats different forms of sleep disordered breathing, such as obstructive and central sleep apnea, as well as insomnia, parasomnia, hypersomnia, and restless leg syndrome. Dr. Fowler's research interests have included complications of immunotherapy in patients with cancer and perioperative adverse events in patients with sleep disordered breathing. While at Emory, he began a project examining the interface of sleep and clinical outcomes in patients with neuromuscular diseases, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Dr. Fowler presented his results at the national meetings of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and is an active member of all four societies. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and trying new restaurants with his partner.
