During an office visit, I raised a health concern about an ankle sore that did not heal over a five-month period and looked very peculiar—unlike any wound I’ve ever had.

Dr. Sargent told me there was nothing to worry about and was quite dismissive about my concern. He clearly thought I was overreacting. I was surprised that he didn’t want to schedule a follow up appointment or order a biopsy because I thought the wound looked suspiciously like a benign cancer growth. I was wrong.

I had melanoma and because it was not caught early, it advanced to Stage III cancer. I’ve been receiving a range of cancer treatments for the last two years. I’ve had three surgeries, two kinds of chemo infusions and over 15 side effects that made me very sick. My quality of life plummeted. Dr. Sargent's cavalier decision to brush off my cancer concerns made a huge difference in my life.

Beware of Dr. Sargent's cavalier medical approach and unwillingness to listen to patients.

Biography

Christopher Sargent, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician offering preventive and primary health care for children and adults of all ages. He also has a special interest in urgent health care. Dr Sargent enjoys working with his patients, serving as the interpreter to their medical world with honest, open and clear communication. Dr Sargent is a member of the Academy of American Family Physicians and the Washington State Medical Association. He is a clinical assistant professor with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine and was named a Top Doctor in Family Medicine by Seattle magazine.
