Casie Dorr, ARNP, CNM, C-EFM, will never forget the moment she decided to become a certified nurse-midwife. The then-labor and delivery nurse knew from a young age that she wanted to care for others. She said she got her nurturing, caring genetics from her mother, also a nurse. But Dorr found her true calling after her first delivery. I wasn't supposed to catch the baby, but things happen, she said. I was the only one in the room, and the mom just delivered. It happened quickly. We were both shocked. Everyone was happy and healthy. It definitely made me sit back and think, 'Oh my gosh. This is it. I need to go back and do this for a living.' Today, Dorr sees patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic Women's Center Council Bluffs.
