Dr. Babak Shemirani

During visit to Dr. Shemirani, I witnessed him using tools and parts of braces—including pieces of wire—that had fallen on the floor. He simply wiped them with alcohol and then placed them in the patient’s mouth. After a piece of wire dropped on the floor, I told him he needed to use a new wire or properly sterilize the one that fell, because alcohol is not an appropriate sterilizing agent in this situation.
He strongly disagreed and insisted that wiping with alcohol is sufficient, stating that it is a common practice in his clinic and that they do this for every patient with no exceptions. When I continued to express my concerns, he became defensive and said that this is his clinic, and if I disagreed with his methods, he would stop the treatment immediately—before it was completed—and that we should leave and find another doctor.
