Just saw Dr. Khoury for the first time today as I was looking for a primary care physician. I would 10/10 recommend her! She was personable, kind, funny, and I feel like someone who is easy to build a rapport with. She got to know me on a personal level, gave me advice, and told me things to keep an eye for. I am glad I stumbled upon this physician.
I made my appt in Jan looking for Dr.'s that look like me. After doing research, I found Dr. Khoury and thought she's amazing! I was so excited to see her! Maybe it's my fault that I had high expectations from her but...nah. That was a complete and utter shutdown as soon as she walked in the room. Today, as she comes in, there is no excitement whatsoever. Didn't greet me, didn't shake my hand. All she said was I'm Dr. Khoury and I looked over your records. Why are you here? I'm like...oh..umm..I'm here to get a physical. My first PCP appointment. She had to know this was the first PCP appointment and it was really about getting a physical. When she asked me about things on my chart, she was very short. I asked her if she was alright bc the her energy was trash. She didn't respond. She asked me to move my purse and jacket to another chair and I said, oh, I'm sorry. Didn't say anything. I even brought up how amazing she was to be able to fight against racism in medicine. DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING. By this point I'm frustrated. I told her, this really feels uncomfortable and I feel tension coming from you. DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING! Just kept asking questions. By this time, I don't even want to look at her. I answer her questions while looking at the wall. I got my hopes up thinking I was going to see one of the best doctors in Atl, and she showed me just how much she cared. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she's not getting the attention she needs intimately but don't take that coldness out on your patients. Especially those who think highly of you. Dr. Kevorkian had better bedside manners. Do they give you CE credits taking a course to learn bedside manners? If so, sign her up. I will never see her again. I referred her to several people noting her win again the fight against racism in medicine. I'm sending out texts tonight telling them to disregard her. All skin folk aint kin folk. Won't stop me from seeing other Dr's that look like me. I won't let her mess that up.
