Thirty years ago and shortly after having relocated to the Colo Springs area, I met Dr. Sharma at a walk-in-clinic near downtown. I felt like the flu was setting in but my condition was more than flu and I required immediate intervention for extreme hypertension. Dr. Sharma’s knowledge, actions, and give-me-no-excuses manner got my attention then and likely saved my life. Dr. Sharma became my personal physician back then and our physician / patient relationship has persisted to this day. Since the first time we met, he has pulled no punches when telling me exactly how things are and how they need to be when it comes to my health. Now, thirty years later I’ve graduated to the patient with a myriad of issues stemming from a serious injury but Dr. Sharma still takes as much time as needed to educate me on every aspect of my ongoing care. His advice has always been sound and while I may not like what he has to say, I always listen. His professional mannerisms fall somewhere between that of a close college friend and my dad, a frightening but respected combination of intellect and wit. His wise counsel has and continues to keep me out of health troubles and despite the efforts of the unrelated to the contrary, I am still here and living the best life possible —thanks in large part to Dr. Sharma and 30+ years of his care.
