I met Ms Hall and she is awesome! I love that she is so nice and very easy to talk to! She has this warm energy about her that is like talking with my mom. I love that she is not the kind of therapist that tells you what you want hear. If you are willing to really and truly do the work, she will get you to where you need to be. My anxiety has calmed down a lot! I have learned ways to deal with it when it seems to be at an all time high. I’m doing so much better with my depression. I have met a lot of therapists and she’s by far the best. The energy in the office is very warm and inviting. It is hard to find a therapist that you genuinely click with - no judgement- definitely a safe space to talk - I definitely recommend her! I will continue going to her and I have recommended her to my friends and family as well.
I'm writing this after processing how everything played out during my one and only session (which lasted about 30 minutes) with Ms. Hall and her location (Four Corners Counseling in Killeen, TX). Firstly, I am seeking help with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and depression. Feeling extremely anxious about beginning counseling with a complete stranger, I did approach this experience very much guarded which she was quick to point out (not helpful). After commenting on my "attitude and behavior" and how it "sent a message", I sensed that things were already off to a rocky start. I guess I was hoping for a professional who might empathize with my discomfort and maybe make an effort to build rapport. If she did make an effort, I did not recognize them as she was asking questions based off of the intake questionnaire that she had with her which I completed beforehand and I thought she was just reviewing basic information. I tried to make an effort in becoming more open and discussed how I try to be the best that I can be in all situations and was met with , "and how's that working out for you?" Admittedly, I became frustrated. Here I am, a person seeking empathy and compassion because I thought I might be worthy of that (my mistake) and attempted to lighten the tension by making a sarcastic remark (my dry humor). She explained that she can't help me unless I give her something to work with (I admit that it can be like pulling teeth with me sometimes especially after only 15 minutes of speaking with you; I don't know if I know what safe looks like). I nervously smiled behind my mask (masks are required) and replied with, "aww you can't read minds?". She said that she was "insulted" by that remark and I understood and immediately apologized for making her feel insulted. I became so overwhelmed with this concoction of guilt and shame that I actually felt worthless as she escorted me out of the office. Needless to say, I'm very sorry for insulting her and I'm ashamed of my authentic attitude and behavior. I wish her the best. My ratings are honest. I ensured to write this review in a responsive rather than reactive state of mind. I'm just not worth her empathy and compassion but I hope that anyone reading this is.
