"I was diagnosed with severe extensor tendinosis (elbow) with intrasubstance tear which I have been dealing with for 18 months. The pain has been so severe it wakes me up at night and affects me every day. After trying all conservative treatments (steroid injections, ice, anti inflammatory, tennis elbow strap, rest and physical therapy) a pain management PA referred me to McGuigan. At first McGuigan seemed sympathetic to my life altering pain then told me there was nothing he could do for me; our encounter lasted about 1-2 minutes. I had so much hope that he could help me but instead I was crushed by his revelation. I don’t cry in public often but dealing with this pain for so long and hearing this news, I was trying so hard to hold back tears in his exam room. A few days after this disappointing visit I read his after visit notes in MyChart and it was clearly evident that he did not listen to me because the notes were full of inaccuracies and blatant lies. A week or so later I decided to get a second opinion, not a third opinion like the after visit notes falsely claim, at a different orthopedic practice and am extremely thankful I did! The PA took the time to listen to me, performed an exam and gave me a wrist brace to keep me from using my extensor muscle so it could have some time to heal. I still am dealing with daily & nightly pain but it has definitely improved! Not sure why McGuigain never recommended a wrist brace to help ease my horrendous pain but I’m glad I found an intelligent doctor that did. It is evident that McGuigan is selective on which patients he chooses to help. After reading other reviews it appears I am not alone in this experience. Save your time and money and go to a orthopedic who actually cares; AVOID this doctor at all costs!"
