Ophthalmologists - Charlottesville, VA

"Today I attended my appointment with Dr. Nancy Vilar, but it was a surprise to me when they told me that another doctor would take care of me. I made an appointment with Dr. Vilar because in her profile she said that she spoke Spanish ... on the other hand, I must say that for the subjects of my profession I feel comfortable speaking in English because I know the terms but for medical reasons I prefer and I I feel safer with a doctor who speaks Spanish ... the situation was uncomfortable for me and I suppose for the doctors who treated me too ... but the most serious thing is that I could not understand or they could explain to me because my eyes are turning red. .. they asked me to stop using the drops prescribed by my doctor in my country and they told me to use artificial tears and to come back in 6 months ... they did not even prescribe them ... my question now is and if after using Artificial tears I keep my eyes red and tired ... should I wait 6 months? For what I explain I did not like the attention ..."

"I experienced a racist remark related to him giving me historical info from other doctors in the system on my chronic medical condition. After sharing with him when I see other doctors I learn something new I was told about. I explained that if my family knew they probably didn't share with me because of me panicking. He told me not his family or his community would do something like that. 1. He questioned my doctors treatment for my eyes. 2. He refused to help me after telling me he sees inflammation in my eye and how he notice my eyelid and eye was closing and looking weaker than my left eye. 3. 10 mins in my appt and first time meeting him he suggested with my chronic disease that I should see a therapist. What? He didn't know me, didn't review my chart before coming in. I am totally disappointed and never want to him again! He even walked me out to the door. Very rude and i left in tears"
