"I waited 40 minutes and saw the doctor for 5 minutes. Dr. Johnson did not want to listen to any of my symptoms or issues besides my carpal tunnel. He only wanted to focus on one issue and fixing it first then addressing the others symptoms afterwards. Guess what Mr. Johnson I don't want to come back to see you 10 more times and have 10 more surgeries and pay 10 times as much when the “issues” could all be taken care of at once. Also, his staff used another patient's chart who had the same name and DOB as me and added my information to it, so it's a giant mess of two different patient's information in one chart that they told me I have to call and fix with the records department (HIPAA Violation!). Plus they never sent my referral to the Neurologist for a Nerve Conduction Study. I had to call the Neurologist to find out why they hadn’t called me, then call Dr. Johnson’s office and leave a couple of messages to have them send the referral and wait 4 weeks to see the Neurologist. "

What is Hand Surgery?

Our hands are not only incredibly useful and important for our daily functioning, but they are complex and delicate parts of our body. It can take a specialist to keep the hands functioning at their best. Hand surgeons are general, plastic, or orthopedic surgeons who have received additional training specifically in the care of hands, wrists and forearms.

Surgery is not the only care that a hand surgeon provides. Hand surgeons might prescribe medications, physical therapy, or splints and braces as well as surgery, depending on the condition. They care for a wide variety of issues affecting the hand or forearm, which may include:

Arthritis
Fingers that cannot be straightened, such as with Dupuytren's contracture
