"I visted these offices several times over 2 months. Below is my experience with this Dr. office. First visit, McKinney office location I was given was wrong, but at least in was in the same building. Eventually found it. Meet with Dr. seemed nice, asked questions, suggested I take some tests. At this point all's good. Location for test in Frisco, I was given address, that they no longer work at, eventually got the correct address to a different building and went to take tests. Took tests, and made appointment for follow up. At next appointment, everything now is with Nurse practitioner, nice lady, but not the Doctor to review tests. After waiting longtime in exam room, the finally determine they've lost one of the two test I took. We discuss first test, and they recommend I take another test back in Frisco. Now I know which is the correct office to go to, so that worked out. I recently went back to visit Dr. about results of my recent test, again, it's with the nurse practitioner in another new office location. Ugh! This test seemed to be very important and showed some troubling results with my brain activity. Again, I asked why the Doctor was not meeting with me to discuss issues, but Nurse said she meets only for first appointment and does other procedures (whatever that is). I was given some medicine, but after looking in up on the WebMD, I have no confidence that this is the correct medicine for me to take, as I don't have any of the syyptoms listed. I'm now looking for a second opinion. I can't believe a Doctor does not show up to appointment to review tests that show you have issues with your brain. "

What is Neurophysiology?

Neurophysiologists are doctors who use tests to evaluate the function of the nervous system. They are able to record the electrical transmissions of the brain, spinal cord, muscles and nerves in order to diagnose neurological diseases. A neurophysiologist may test for nerve and muscle conditions such as myasthenia gravis, demyelinating polyneuropathy, or ALS.

There are a number of tests that a neurophysiologist might use, depending on the part of the nervous system that is affected. Some of these include:

Nerve conduction studies, to show how well nerves are working
Electromyography, to show how well the muscles respond to signals from nerves
Electroencephalography (EEG), a test to measure brain activity (most often used to diagnose epilepsy)
Evoked potential studies, which measure electrical activity in the brain in response to a stimulus
Polysomnography, or a sleep study, which records brain activity and body functions during sleep

In addition, neurophysiologists are often called on to assist during brain or spinal cord surgery to monitor the health and function of the nervous system during the procedure.

After performing tests on the nervous system, neurophysiologists will offer their interpretation and opinion of the results to help make a diagnosis. They provide critical information to patients with serious neurological diseases.
