Retina Specialist - Brooklyn, NY

"Very appreciative of everyone - Dr. Mei, the professional who took my retinal images, and the office/receptionist staff. They were all friendly, helpful, and empathetic. I was referred to NYC Retina by my optometrist at Sunnysight Optik, who noticed some unusual discoloration on my right eye's retina during a routine visit. Since I've been to Sunnysight Optik before, the optometrist was able to compare my previous images to current ones - there was definitely something new in the recent scan. She urged me to visit a specialist for a second opinion ASAP, as she was unsure if was a retinal tear or something more benign. Dr. Mei also saw something similar on my retina scan, and then carefully looked at both eyes after dilating them. She explained that my eyes are perfectly healthy, and that light is reflecting in a way that is causing the scanner-produced image to show something that isn't actually there. NYC Retina originally scheduled me for a visit on Fri, Sept 13 at their Queens location. However, the wait was progressively driving me bananas - as you can imagine, sitting around waiting to see if you have a retinal tear (which can progress to retinal detachment) is disconcerting. Called this morning to ask if they had any earlier appointments, and they were able to schedule me for today. The office was clean and not busy during my visit - I'm wondering if they scheduled me during their lunch break, which is extremely kind of them! Thank you - for the first time in a few days, I can breathe a sigh of relief! I'll be back next year, but for a routine retinal exam! :)"
