Endocrinologists - Winston-salem, NC

"I'm trying to understand where all of these 5-star reviews are coming from. Was this doctor having a bad day when I saw her? I never saw this doctor until the very end of the appointment. Almost the entire visit was conducted by a "fellow" who is a D.O. - and the D.O. had to consult with Dr. Price once all of my information was gathered and approved. When the doctor did come in, she was fully masked but stood by the door, and did not approach me at all. She may have said a few words, but I found it very strange that the doctor did not examine me at all. I am a type 2 diabetic since 1997, and a bariatric patient. My type 2 was so out of control back in 2014 that my former endocrinologist in the previous State I lived in had me get a vertical sleeve gastrectomy in December 2014. A1c was much improved because of that, but my move to North Carolina was very stressful, and my A1c jumped up .8 points and it hadn't been that high since 2015. I was even told at this initial appointment that I didn't need an endocrinologist (I was rather flabbergasted at that comment because I fail to understand how a Family Medicine doctor could be more knowledgeable or skilled in the treatment and management of diabetes than an Endocrinologist). Also, I had a little weight gain that was troubling me, and they seemed more concerned with my weight gain than they did about the jump in A1c from 6.2 to 7.0, because they took me off one injectable drug, put me on a new one, and told me to stop taking my insulin. If my taking insulin and the other injectable did not prevent a rise in my A1c, how is taking the insulin away going to fix that? I have arthritis in my knees and degenerative disc disease in my lower back, and I cannot exercise like I want to - and the answer they gave me after questioning the removal of insulin was "take a walk". In summary: I had asked to see Dr. Price, not a D.O. "fellow". The DO was very nice, don't get me wrong, and I was aware that there may be an "intern" at the visit, but I was not prepared for a D.O. to handle the entire visit only to have them consult with the MD. I was very disappointed with this entire visit. If the doctor is going to hand off new patients to an intern or a fellow, that should have been more clearly communicated. I'm considering finding a new Endocrinology practice - but that will depend on how my follow-up appointment goes."

"She is the best. I absolutely look forward to my visits with Anne. She is always very friendly and very caring. She truly cares about her patients and has a great memory. I just adore her and she will always be my favorite among doctors. I know she is titled NP but I look at her as a doctor. She knows what she is doing."

"Awful! I used to see Dr Sollenberger at this practice and he was amazing! When he moved on, I decided to give Dr Trujillo a try. I waited an hour past my appointment time. They did not take my weight, the nurse used foul language and talked about the other nurses in the office. Then when Dr Trujillo came in, he spent 5 minutes with me, gave me no helpful instruction and just said "look for trends and adjust" Seriously?! This was my initial visit with him! Worthless."
