"Laura’s kindness and empathy are evident. I didn’t recognize those traits, consciously. I felt calm and safe during our sessions where I was very-consciously self-absorbed, but that was part of my process on a path to hopefully feeling important again. Laura helped me to confront myself and work through my stuff. She is gentle to her core, and she is also tough, in the best way and I always knew that. Her ability to be tough when I needed it, yet didn’t quite expect it, helped me tremendously. She pushed me in the right directions and at the perfect times to dig painfully deeper. She walks the walk, meaning she digs deep within herself to heal. I know that because of things she taught me and guided me toward. This type of authenticity in your therapist, with whom you’re hopefully sharing your truth, is extremely uncommon I would think, to say the least? She helped me in the most crucial way which was how I view this life, not how the world views me. I didn’t need to be important, just honest, brutally if need be. That’s a foundational change and it was very difficult to get through with no foreseeable light, at times. Eventually it was wonderful.
