"Cancer is terrifying... for the individual and their loved ones. Please take the time to seek a different doctor. Dr. Rabbani DOES NOT CARE about her patients! She puts on a good act during the introduction meeting and the physical exam. After that, she hands off the patients to her Oncology Nurse and her Radiation Therapists for the remainder of treatments. Dr. Rabbani’s hands-off approach includes providing test results... The Oncology Nurse literally read my mom her MRI results after one of her therapy appointments. Mind you, the results of this MRI were important in determining my mom’s next treatment steps! *COVID-19 is no excuse for Dr. Rabbani not to have contacted my mom via telephone or tele-health AT ANY TIME during the 5 weeks of her treatment!*"

"I would never reconmmend this Dr to anyone I loved or even cared vaguely about. From the beginning to end of my 33 radiation treatments I became increasingly dissatisfied and discouraged by her lack of professionalism and bedside manner. From my very first visit when she interrupted me to tell me not to ask questions until she finished her spiel (her words) to asking me to "flash" her at my first post treatment visit to her manner of never touching me and standing as far away as she could in the room when I had to see her, she never treated me with anything close to compassion or caring. I was told more than once by the nurse Lori (sp) that my fatigue was simply a matter of my body adjusting to fall, and that I was "fine". In fact she was going to just have me skip seeing the Dr one week but fortunately Dr Cook arrived on time for me to see her before I was dismissed. Dr Cook is an excellent Dr by the way- I wish I could have seen her every time, but unfortunately she was only filling in for Dr Vlachaki while she was on vacation. As it turned out I had developed a serious upper respiratory infection so it wasn't due to seasonal change - rather the fatigue was real. If it were not for the caring of Mike, Deb, Antionette and Laurie. the time spent there would have been a total horror. As it was, I left treatment feeling as if I failed at having cancer. Please please please train the Drs and staff to show a little compassion. I had never had cancer before so the whole summer has been a bit daunting, but I feel that a little compassion would have gone a long way."

What is Radiology?

Radiologists are physicians who work with diagnostic imaging, such as x-rays and CT scans, or treatments that involve radiation. At first glance, these two fields may not seem related. However, many modern imaging techniques involve the use of radiation. There are also several different types of radiologist, including those that specialize in images and those that provide radiation treatment.

Diagnostic radiologists use medical imaging for diagnosing disease. Imaging procedures (such as x-rays, ultrasounds, and MRIs) use energy in the form of sound or radiation to create pictures of internal organs and structures.

Interventional radiologists use imaging for guiding certain minimally invasive medical procedures. A good example of this is the use of x-ray to guide catheters during angioplasty and the placement of stents in narrowed arteries.

Nuclear radiology involves the use of radioactive medication to diagnose or treat disease. Nuclear radiologists use medication that contains very small, safe amounts of radioactive material that can be detected by special machines. This allows them to gather information about how well the body is working. They can also use radioactive medications to treat certain illnesses, such as an overactive thyroid.

Radiation therapy or radiation oncology is the branch of radiology which uses radiation to treat cancer. The radiation is given at a higher dose, but it is very specifically targeted so that it only affects cancer cells.

Radiation, whether used in imaging or for treatment, is a powerful tool. Radiologists have the training and knowledge to use it safely.
