What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a field of alternative medicine that aims to treat physical ailments. Practitioners of homeopathy, known as homeopaths, prescribe oral and topical treatments.

Homeopathy traces its origin to the late 1700s. Historically, the ideology behind the practice was to prescribe small quantities of an illness-causing substance as a cure for the same illness. Homeopathy is not advised for severe conditions such as cancer or other life-threatening diseases. Homeopaths may work with naturopaths, acupuncturists, or other alternative therapists, who are practitioners of an umbrella term known as integrative medicine.
