Obstetricians and Gynecologists - Elmhurst, IL

"I came here a month ago or so for a wellness visit. The office receptionist demanded I pay a copay, up-front, as their policy had changed Feb 1. I did offer to pay after the visit but they said I could not see the doctor unless I paid the $25 copay first. I knew that this wasn’t right because my insurance covers 100% for preventative care, so I left without being seen because I didn’t want the argument. Then, two weeks later on March 12, I got a bad test result and needed a followup with an OBGYN. My only option to be seen quickly was Dr. Potocnik. I saw her on 3/13. She was pleasant and gave me good information. As a next step, she told me her office would contact me to schedule an appt for a procedure. A couple days later, I got an invite through My Chart to schedule the appointment, which I did for 8:15 on 3/28. The appointment stood for a whole week, and then on 3/27, someone called and said I needed to reschedule to Monday 3/31 because they needed a 1/2 hour window and the link they sent was for 15 min. When I explained to the nurse that I was worried and scared, so sooner rather than later, she let the appointment stand. But I got a call the next morning 1/2 hour before my appointment from a receptionist who talked over me and repeated herself and cut me off several times. They were again trying to reschedule. I argued my case and they transferred me to Maria. The same argument was made and she ended up hanging up on me. Well, I came in for my appointment anyway since it was still showing in My Chart. They of course cancelled it at about 8:05. Maria came out to tell me the doctor was with patients so she couldn’t see me. Now I know she did not have a patient at 8:15! So I sat in the office and listened to the people who came in, there was no one else here to see this doctor. Just one lady came in at 8:37. Then around 8:45 Maria came back out and said they just found availability at 9:45 on 3/28. The office staff would benefit from being retrained in copays, customer service and in problem solving skills. The was a 15 min time discrepancy, which could have been easily managed, especially during the week leading up to the appointment."

"Dr. Rodriguez was unprofessional, unhygienic, is NOT trauma informed, and violated my privacy. Upon arriving and/or leaving to the exam room she did not wash her hands. She simply put gloves on. During the breast exam she did not communicate what she was going to do, opened my robe, and examined me. Communicating steps is important given the nature of the appointment (Gynecology). During the pap smear she left the room to get another speculum and did not close the curtain, leaving me exposed to whoever walked in the hallway. Again, did not wash her hands. The office staff is rude and unprofessional. I reported this to the patient experience department and I am waiting for next steps. I agree with previous review, I am also confused as to how she has high ratings. This was a very traumatic experience for me. "
