Dr. Barreto gave us the facts, spoke with us each time he came to the hospital (which many do not) & had a kindness that will never be forgotten. In such trying times and having no prior history, our family can not stop praising how he handled our situation. He is someone we will use in the future, should we ever need his services."

"Dr. jJose Cardona Guzman is a Doctor that commits medical negligence as he committed with me. Medical Negligence occurs when a health professional, who owes his patients a standard duty of care, fails to uphold his duty of care and the responsibility that is expected in such a way that because of this failure, the patient suffers and injury or harm. In my case, I suffered harm. I arrived at the hospital ill but my health was still moderately, I had to leave the hospital when I saw that my hemoglobin hadn’t been addressed during the entire week I was there and was actually at a life threatening level for two days until I felt I was never going to be treated and at risk of losing my life under his care. Dr. Jose Cordona Guzman is not the kind of doctor you want to treat your family member like Grandma or Grandpa or your children or partner because he will deny treatment and instead of listening to the patient and caring for the patients well being and putting in orders for medications or procedures that provide patients relief and comfort, he will not reach out to your doctors, he will not consider your medical history, your worsening of health but will tell you to your face that “ you should be grateful that he hasn’t discharged you yet.” Dr. Jose Cordoba Guzman said he didn’t feel comfortable treating my Sickle Cell disease pain and but he also didn’t treat my Sickle cell(he didn’t keep track of my worsening hemoglobin even after I pointed out that it was too low for me and that this was proof my crisis was currently getting worse. I gave him the contact number and email for my doctors so that he can reach out to them and consult on how to best treat my pain and Sickle cell crisis. I had to leave the hospital, with a hemoglobin of 5.0 (which is dangerously low) to find another hospital that would actually treat this dangerous situation the doctor left me in. When I arrived to another the hospital that treats me , they were extremely concerned that I was in such a bad health state, that a medical institute allowed the doctor to proceed in this way and that a Doctor such as Jose Cordoba is a danger to patients and should not be allowed to practice “medicine” . I was in excruciating pain for 6 days. I begged and pleaded with him to keep me one day on a a dose of pain medication that would give me some relief, he denied and did not offer alternative options. I was given zero options and I was not treated liken adult that is seeking medical attention and paying for it. Instead the Dr treated me with zero regard to my health. His negligence has put me in a dangerous position where I’m at high risk of organ damage, stroke pulmonary embolisms and infections. This Doctor is not professional and has broken his oath to do no harm when he left me in miserable pain for days and in urgent need of a blood transfusion. On December 2021 Dr. Jose Cardona Guzman failed to provide adequate treatment to a patient under his care and his negligence and refusal to treat lead to the patient having to transfer to a different hospital where she was tested and given a blood transfusion and proper pain management. There is nothing worse than a Doctor that is incapable of recognizing when they’re wrong and continues hurting their patient. If I get worse and my health results in my fighting for my life I will sue this doctor for damages that I have documented proof of."
